Jindal Steel & Power Ltd

Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) has the world’s largest coal based DRI unit, producing steel through Electric Arc Furnace route with a total capacity of 2.5 million tones per annum. The production of the billet rounds range from 140 mm to 305 mm dia.

JSPL has business interests in Steel and Power generation.

Its present production facilities are spread over Rajgarh and Raipur (Chhattisgarh) having capacity of 1.37 million Ton of Sponge Iron and 2.9 million Ton of Steel Melting Shop. The Company is a pioneer in the manufacture of World’s Longest Rails and has revolutionized the rail sector by introducing 120m long rails. The Company is the sole producer of long welded panels (240 m to 480 m lengths) under an ongoing Technical collaboration agreement with JFE (earlier known as NKK Corporation), Japan.

JSPL has signed a MOU with the State Government of Orissa to set up a 6 million Ton capacity Steel plant with an investment of Rs. 13500 Crores and another MOU with the State Government of Jharkhand to set up a 5 million Ton steel plant with an investment of Rs. 11500 Crores.

Jindal Power Limited, a subsidiary of JSPL, is setting up a 1000 MW Super Thermal Power Plant at Rajgarh, with an investment of over Rs.4500 crores.

Mining Rights in Bolivia

JSPL has been granted mining rights for 20 Billion tons of iron ores reserves from EL Mutun Iron Ore Mines, Bolivia, which is one of the largest iron ore reserves in the world. JSPL plans to invest USD 2 billion over the next 8 years in creating an integrated steel plant, which would be capable of producing 1.7 MTPA of long products of steel.

Jindal Industrial Park

To fuel the industrial development in the State of Chhattisgarh, JSPL has set up the first of its kind Industrial Park where more than 25 units have already started operations and a number of units are under implementation. More than Rs. 1200 crores investment is expected in this Industrial Park and in its fully operational state it is expected provide employment to over 5000 people.
